What is your career?

Author & Human Resource Coordinator

How long have you been married?

11 years

What is your love story?

While headed to meet up with some friends for a Daniel Fast friendly meal,, my good friend who was riding with me at the time began having a telephone conversation with her uncle. They did some catching up. Then I heard "no I don't have any available single friends. Wait, yes I do! She's right here. We spoke that day and eventually began dating. About a year and half later we were married. Today that friend is now m niece by marriage.

How did you know your husband was the one?

My husband was #1 a believer who shared some of my same interests. He was a dedicated father who was actively involved in church. He respected and welcome my then 3 year old daughter into his life without question. However,my story is a very common, but unspoken one. As a believe I became pregnant out of wedlock. We made the decision to marry shortly after. Based on our commitment to God and each other we made the conscious decision to pursue the marriage covenant together as one.

What was the best part about your wedding day?

We never had an official wedding. However, took the rings that were purchased by my now sister in law and made our way down the aisle to stand before the magistrate judge. So the best part was setting aside the thought of what we didn't have and focusing on what we did have.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share to a newlywed?

Remember that marriage is not about receiving. It's about what you can offer your spouse. If both parties keep that before them it will remain a challenge to live a selfish life as a couple.

What is one or two pre-marriage tips or scriptures you would give a bride?

1. Marriage does not eliminate dating. Continue to do fun things together and learn each other. The moment you refuse to do so is the moment you shift you focus from the possibilities to impossibilities.

2. Don't start off seeking the promise. That's where we mess up. Pursue the purpose in your own life and the promise will manifest in your marriage. We are not perfect in any way. However, hearing from God will help you to learn how to love your spouse more than you did before.

What does living a life Faith + Fulfillment mean to you?

It means to live a life of faith by trusting God to provide everything you need whether is guidance, finances, healing, godly friendships etc. As a result of being obedient you will reap a harvest that is full and plenty in your marriage.
