What is your career?

Sr. Practice Manager for Atrium Health

How long have you been married?

3 years

What is your love story?

My husband and I met working at Target during college. The Target store located in Spartanburg, SC was both of our summer jobs. During my first summer with the company he showed interest and I declined dates and giving out my number because, based on my perception he was not my "type." When I returned for my second summer after the completion of my first year at Winthrop University, I decided to give him my number but still had no plans to answer his calls. This was my way of getting him off my back for a while. He doesn't like to admit that he always tried to sit with me in the break room or attempt awkward conversations in passing. He called several times until one day I finally answered and we talked for 3+ hours. From that conversation it was history. He of course claims that was going to be his last attempt at a phone call! We had chemistry instantly and could talk for hours and always wanted to hang out. It was just easy.

How did you know your husband was the one?

This is always a loaded question for me. I think there were several factors that contributed to knowing he was the one. He complimented my personality, loved me unconditionally, he showed himself to be a driven man so I knew he would always provide. He is also selfless which is a great characteristic for a long marriage.

What was the best part about your wedding day?

The ending of the day....planning is stressful! lol However my favorite moment was seeing his grandmother be so proud of him being the first grandchild to get married.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share to a newlywed?

Be intentional in planning for your future with your mate and learning each other more and more each day. It’s important to nurture the emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of your relationship. Also, find what works for your marriage and don't listen to what society says a "perfect" marriage looks like.

What is one or two pre-marriage tips or scriptures you would give a bride?

Focus more on your marriage versus a wedding. The wedding last a day, but marriage is forever. Learn your spouses love language and adapt to how they receive love.

What does living a life Faith + Fulfillment mean to you?

Walking in God's divine plan for your life even when you don't understand his ways to see the glory of his promise manifest for you.
